  • This scene always gets to me and Morgan Freeman's words are so poignant. The singers are Edith Mathis and Gundula Janowitz from the 1968 recording of Le Nozze Di Figaro/Karl Bohm conducting the Berlin Opera

  • I love this scene - inspiration even in the bleakest of external circumstances. Beautiful - the whole movie is just great. Morgan Freeman's narration is just so well written and performed throughout. Thanks for uploading.

    Sunbeam :)

  • Andy Dufresne - The defiant - My hero

  • @mrslimshadyish absolutely! I love the way the piece reaches it's climax at just the right time. This scene and the one when they're drinking beer on the roof are just massive scenes. This movie brings tears to my eyes sometimes (:

  • G4shmaster is right, I totally agree. Greatest scene from the greatest movie ever made, I can never see it enough times.

  • I've commented on this video before.

    Just check out the sound-mixing and editing on this clip!

    Both ov which were academy award nominated in 1994.

  • Lyrics are just nonsense ;-)

  • I thought about looking up the words to this song. This scene moved me so much the first time I saw it and I've wondered for years what the women were singing about. But I've decided not to. Red's right; some things are best left unsaid, some beauty cannot be expressed in words

  • Sometimes breaking the rules SOUNDS so good.

  • Can't believe no1s commented on this for two months ! Ha best scene from the best movie ever made

  • the moment when Andy reaches for the record player to turn it off...and then turns it up...{chills}

  • It is called: "canzonetta sull'aria"
