Back in the 90's I did a wicked Bill Clinton impression. But my days of impersonating the president are long over. It appears, however, that GTP's Ryan Bott has the YES WE CAN attitude to be Barack. I'm no longer interested in being the president. These days I'm more interested to hear what others would do if they were given the power. Take a look at some of the lighter moments of our work in the capitol. I'm always struck by how beautiful people look and sound and react when sharing with strangers with good intentions. We're hardly strangers at all.
Ryan was joking to wonder if there was anyone out there...still, as we collected and waited for subjects to answer the "if I was President question," but as the enthusiasm of what was new ebbs away, it's easy to get down and stay down. Nearly a hundred days into the new administration, the excitement has been replaced by fear and anxiety. Great expectations turned to great apprehension. The cheers of the multitudes are now nervous whispers. The call to arms issued on January 20th, 2009 feels so hard to wrap your mind around today, but WE'RE still out there and so are you. What do you need America? What can you do America? And how would you do it? Is there anyone out there...still?
