  • Agreed. Interesting that this clip of an illegal crossover is labeled " The Greatest sabre fencer in the world"

  • Omg. Pozdniakov has 5 Olympic Medals (4 Team ans 1 individual) and 15 World Championships medals (9 Individual and 6 Team). He's 34 years old, and is the 2006 World Champion. There is no fencer like him alive. It's a fact.

  • I didn't named the clip based on this action, but in everything he did since 1992.

  • There's a brilliant marching attack by Pozdniakov in the same bout, maybe you should upload that one instead.

  • the whole video is avaliable...but anyway...tell me the instant at the bout you're talking about...i'll try to upload it...

  • 1 star... obviously the guy cheated by crossing over. how can you upload this clip and say he's the greatest fencer?!

  • because he did it and the judge didn't see...the movement is very fast...he finished the attack and uncrossed his legs before covaliu touch him...

By the way...He's the the world champion, he is 33years old and has a lot of olympic medals. That's why maybe he is the greatest sabre fencer ever...

  • Instant replay does not (currently) change the call. The very human director might make a very human mistake.

Besides, Pozdniakov seems to score the touch *just* as or prior to the X-step.

Until instant replay review allows for "call changing/reversal"... instant replay in fencing is nothing more than "hey everyone, let's watch Matrix-time with high level fencers".

  • He crossed over.

    Big deal.

    He's the greatest.

    YOU try fencing him.

    Complainers lol

  • His hand moves forward and touches the opponent mid-way through the step (almost exactly where is feet are side-by-side) therefore it is his point, since he crossed over after the action had stopped.

  • Fencing rules have become full blown retarded now. How sad had sword fighting become that crossing ones feet will cost you a match. Not to mention how "touches" really have become touches and not a truly successful blow worthy of winning a match.

  • @wibba yea but uve kinda been misleading with ur captions lol

  • He didn't cross it's a flunge your allowed to cross after the touch

  • ummm he crossed over, very obvoulous, just like rebecca ward.

  • no, he's not... proved to be a great fencer once again at the beyjing olympics...

oh, and it's not the first time he wins against podzniakov.

  • more like a acter...

  • you are not allowed to cross step till two steps after the touch.

  • yellow card dude
