Archibishop Christodoulos on Mikis Theodorakis - Axios Esti

His Beatitude, Archibishop Christodoulos of Athens and all Hellas participates with His own tribute to Mikis Theodorakis on the occasion of the presentation the first volume of his biography as was recorded by the Radio Station SKAΪ, 100.3 FM, in Athens, Hellas on December 15, 2003.

In this tribute His Beatitude, makes it clear that, although Mr. Theodorakis' position may be quite different, that must not impede the honest appreciation of Mr. Theodorakis' contributions for the restoration of the "ideals of Democracy and Justice", for after all unlike His Beatitude and Karamanlis, Theodorakis, Florakis and Nikos Konstantopoulos were relentlessly persecuted, tortured and/or exiled, in the case of Mr. Theodorakis four times, for their political views.

Mr. Theodorakis has often quarreled, publicly with Mr. Christodoulos and his Right-Wing advocacies, especially on the subject of the National Identification Cards, mandated by the European Union. His Beatitude, Mr. Christodoulos, has been promoting the inclusion of the bearer's religion, in the Card. To this end he ordered the priests of all Hellas to visit the faithful and obtain their signature on the petition urging the government to negotiate with the EU for the inclusion of such an entry. Imagine having one's spiritual guide visit you at home. Very few, if any, of the flock would refuse the request from priest, who could also be the one to hear your confessions.

Mr. Theodorakis was livid when he heard this reminding everyone that the last time that such an entry was used was during Hellas's Nazi-Stricken-Years, facilitating The Wermacht to round up the Jewish people.

On April of this year Mr. Theodorakis wrote an open letter: This time when, His Beatitude, was at it again, laying a reef at Grivas's grave.

Grivas was a Nazi collaborator and organizer of Death-Squads against suspected leftists during the British occupation of Hellas following the withdrawal of the Nazi Army, in 1944.

Following is his open letter to Mr. Christodoulos.--


Μακαριότατε, σφάλατε...

Πιστεύω ότι σήμερα ο μεγαλύτερος και πλέον επικίνδυνος εχθρός για τον λαό και την χώρα μας είναι η προσπάθεια αφελληνισμού μας με τα ύπουλα χτυπήματα κατά του πολιτισμού, του ήθους και της ιστορίας μας.
Σ' αυτή τη συγκυρία ο ρόλος της Ελληνικής Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας είναι θετικός και γι' αυτό άλλωστε παρατηρούμε την τεράστια προσπάθεια που καταβάλλεται για την δαιμονοποίηση του αρχιεπισκόπου Χριστόδουλου, τόσο λόγω της στάσης του απέναντι στην επιθετική πολιτική των Αμερικανών και την αντίθεσή του στην παγκοσμιοποίηση, όσο και για να χτυπηθεί ένας από τους διαχρονικούς πυλώνες της Ελληνικότητας, η Ελληνική Ορθοδοξία, αφού ο εκάστοτε Αρχιεπίσκοπος θεωρείται ως ένα σύμβολό της.

Επειδή τελευταία η πολεμική αυτή εναντίον του πήρε διαστάσεις ανεπίτρεπτες, τουλάχιστον για τα δικά μας ήθη, φτάνοντας σε αχαρακτήριστα επίπεδα χυδαιότητας, αναγκάστηκα να υπερασπίσω δημόσια τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο ως εκπρόσωπο της Ελληνικής Εκκλησίας.

Αν κρίνω από τα βέλη που δέχθηκα για την τοποθέτησή μου εκείνη, ο στόχος μου υπήρξε ορθός, δεδομένου ότι οι επιθέσεις προήλθαν από φερέφωνα των εχθρικών δυνάμεων που προανέφερα.

Σήμερα είμαι υποχρεωμένος να στραφώ προς τον ίδιο τον αρχιεπίσκοπο Χριστόδουλο και να του ζητήσω, τον σεβασμό που ευθαρσώς εκδηλώσαμε εμείς προς το πρόσωπό του, να επιδείξει και εκείνος προς την πρόσφατη ιστορία του Ελληνικού Έθνους.

Ο στρατηγός Γρίβας, τον οποίο αποφάσισε να τιμήσει στην Κύπρο, πρώτον υπήρξε συνεργάτης των Γερμανών μαζί με την οργάνωσή του, την Χ, η οποία χτυπούσε τους αντιστασιακούς μαζί με την Βέρμαχτ και την Γκεστάπο και δεύτερον ο ρόλος του στην Κύπρο μετά την ίδρυση της ΕΟΚΑ Β΄ υπήρξε προδοτικός. Και είναι τα μέλη αυτής της οργάνωσης, που σε συνεργασία με την Χούντα του Ιωαννίδη, αποπειράθηκαν να δολοφονήσουν τον Μακάριο, προκαλώντας την επέμβαση του τουρκικού στρατού και βυθίζοντας έτσι την Κύπρο και ολόκληρο τον Ελληνισμό στην μεγαλύτερη εθνική τραγωδία μετά την Μικρασιατική Καταστροφή.

Μακαριότατε, λυπάμαι ειλικρινά που αυτές οι αστόχαστες ενέργειες αμαυρώνουν τον εθνικό σας ρόλο, που εγώ ο ίδιος αποκάλεσα θεσμικό (και το πιστεύω). Πολύ περισσότερο γιατί οι ενέργειες αυτές γίνονται σε μια τόσο δύσκολη για την πατρίδα μας στιγμή, κατά την οποία ο λαός μας έχει ανάγκη να συσπειρωθούν όλες οι δυνάμεις που αντιστέκονται στην παγκοσμιοποίηση, στην αμερικανοποίηση και στον αφελληνισμό του λαού μας. Ανάμεσα στις δυνάμεις αυτές εξακολουθώ να συγκαταλέγω και εσάς προσωπικά. Αυτό όμως θα πρέπει να επιβεβαιώνεται συνεχώς από την στάση σας.

Are you not able to pick up a history book and comprehend what it entails? No historical treatise, recognized author, or historian has ever written anything to support your position on the topic. It is common knowledge that the Crusades were a disaster for Byzantium, a disaster that pleased the Papacy.

@kdurston1 The Emporer of Byzantium asked for a mercenary soldiers to be used as border guards. The Pope saw this as an opportunity to bring more lands and people under his dominion. The Europeans saw this as an opportunity for a land grab. The Crusaders went through Eastern Europe like a plague of locusts, pillaging everything in their path. Everything about the Crusades was wrong and anti-Christian. Christ NEVER said "take up your sword and go kill your fellow man", Christ spoke about love.
