Sony Alpha NEX5 sample video - launch party

Handheld clips from the Croatian launch party for Europe, the closing dinner, mainly using the 16mm f/2.8 unstabilised lens. The focus test was taken when on a ferry, using the 18-55mm stabilised lens.

The camera was set to 25fps I think - 1080i/50. I can not easily make the original components available.

The 16mm f/2.8 lens is not sharp at the corners wide open, but pretty sharp in the middle, and it's not stabilised. In this light the camera will be using ISO 1600, the top of its auto ISO range, and I would guess the effective shutter speed is around 1/20th. I've shot comparable situations with Nikon and Canon, and sharpness is no better than this. I think the resolution of the ferry seat cloth and jeans denim at the end shows the real sharpness.

nice but I'll wait for a better model,optical viewfinder and wider choice of lenses is needed,I still prefer to go the Panasonic ?Olympus way

It sure looks better on the jeans. Did you use the 1080i/50 (or 60) mode ?

Is by chance the original file available somewhere ? :-)

Unfortunately the framerate is not preserved by youtube, and I can't have a clear advice on that mode..

Nice video sample. This camera seems promising.

However, most of the clip seems a bit out of focus, a bit blurry.. it it just the low light ?
