Here is my Dash 9 fitted with Digitrax DCC and Phoenix sound. I spent a while comparing sounds from various makers from video clips where possible, there weren't many, so this might help if you're deciding also
I have added a second speaker into the fuel tank - the Dash comes fitted with 1 in the back
Added some detailing to the front and back and then weathered.
The smoke unit was turned off here as sadly I had no oil at the time, but it really does look good as it is fan driven !

  • No conductor? I see we have a one-man-crew company man here...

  • @fyadcorp he was off answering call of nature

    :-)

  • Nice looking loco. I was thinking of adding dcc to my dash 9 with Phoenix sound. Did you plug the sound into the main circuit board or did you wire the motors directly to Phoenix? Thanks

  • @rtcurtis hi, from memory its a digitrax dcc chip that plugs straight into the board in the Dash. that controls the motors etc

from that board i took one of the functions and mapped it to the same as one the sound unit uses and connected it to the smoke unit - so when i press that function, the sound comes on and "starts up" and the smoke starts.

  • @MikeL0ck i also had to add a small switch so i could provide power directly to the sound chip, when needed, in order to program it using the phoenix interface without dcc chip being on, (as they share the same address) hope that makes sense

  • hi

i think your asking why the sounds on mine are maybe diffferent to yours ? correct ?

it's been a while since i did this video and even ran the loco so i cannot be sure what i did with it

you can alter variuos sound files using their software interface even as far as channging horn sounds from other locos, so i maybe changed some bits or even used a different locos sound in preference - i cannot recall, sorry

  • @MikeL0ck lmao, good answer. I would have also accepted taking a smoke break down in the nose.

  • Hi Mike,

Have this loco with these devices also (Digitrax and Phoenix).

In the state of the locomotive can I get everything exactly how Du.Doch During car ride is not. (Bell and Whistle).

Do you know why this is there a solution?

Greetings from Peter of Berlin Germany

  • @Fireheart528

  • @drixdresspress
