More poetically played than Pollini's rendering, faster than Richter's and way more expressive than Ashkenazy's, the best version of this etude I ever heard.

On this form, one of the Gods of the keyboard. The closest I have ever come to flying outside of an aircraft was hearing Andrei accelerating into the difficulties of the closing pages of the Scriabin Third Sonata at the Royal Festival Hall.
The audience were clutching their armrests as if they might crash. I overheard a woman behind me, shaking her head in disbelief, say "You have to be insane to play the piano like that!"
Let's hope not.

this is really good! the color changes are all there and melody and harmony or the arpeggios all seem very balanced and well thought out. Completely in control. Very nice, indeed.

for once i agree with all "the best../the most.."-comments, because this is truly a damned top execution compared to all those great pianists quoted above. Maybe Argerich at the live competition deserves the 2nd rank (but 'live' performed)!

This is amazing! Such clarity and musicality too...

I must say that this performance is astoundingly beautiful and technically flawless. coup de chapeau, Monsieur Andre............... I also love Garrick Ohlsson's on here

@smudgepots You could have told the woman behind you that "a person has to be talented and greatly practiced to play like that." But that's just my perspective!
