Once laid to ruins during WWII, Warsaw, the 'Phoenix City', is now sprawling and thriving. This capital city of Poland is also the country's financial backbone and an increasingly popular destination for expatriates. Cut in two by the Vistula River, Warsaw is a considerably green city with a quarter of it covered in vegetation and 8% of its surface area occupied by parks. Warsaw is less than a ten hour drive and even shorter flight from Prague, Krakow, Berlin, Vienna, and the beautiful Baltic Sea. But there is no need to leave, because there is plenty to do in Warsaw. Families can visit one of the 82 parks, the many museums, swim, and boat. Singles can enjoy the buzzing night life, and all can enjoy one of the several music, art or film festivals held in the city. With all of the great things this city has to offer, Warsaw can be an exciting destination for the expatriate.
