Celery Spoof Song - Amy Winehouse Mark Ronson Zutons Valerie

This started life as a spoof called Salary when we were just messing about singing songs we'd seen on the Brit awards. One of The Anitatoe members (namely my son!) misheard me singing a spoof chorus of Salary over Valerie and echoed the chorus with the word Celery instead, hence a better spoof idea was born, as we already had a character ready to go who would be perfect for the singing role!

I keep hearing and seeing news or magazine articles about obesity, the benefits of healthy living etc. Even in Doctor Who's new Series 4 first episode, Partners in Crime, the fat of weight watchers come alive in the form of little Adipose and literally walk away. So the lyrics came fairly swiftly when I put pen to paper.

Here our Obi Wan Kenobi Captain Caveman Potato Head decides to go on a diet. Singing in a Krusty the Clown from The Simpsons style he tells the world how he's only allowed basic rations and Celery on his new healthy eating regime. He tells how disgruntled he feels and voices his less than enthusiastic submission to forcing it upon his palette. It's not quite 4 minutes. Enjoy!

The Zutons gave a great performance of Valerie at the Radio 1 Big Weekend. Fab!
