"Shake, Rattle, and Roll" was written by Jesse Stone using the pseudonym of Charles E. Calhoun in 1954. Big Joe Turner was the first to record the tune, but Bill Haley & The Comets really put it on the map with their rockin' cover. Sam Cooke's recording of it in the early 60's never made the Top 40 except in the hearts and feet of those who like to shag.
