thats the biggest channel ive seen so far. i just got my biggest 3 nights ago and he weighed 9lbs 3 ounces but no where near as big as yours. i did a 14lb flathead that night too not bad for me lol.

nice channel cat. he would have been to big for me to eat, i prefer them around 5-10 LBs for eating. i would much rather have a nice clean fillet from a catfish to picking bones out of pan fish, but smoked trout is about unbeatable.

i dont get how you use 10lb test i use 50lb test braid... but then again you set your drag really low and take 10 minutes to reel in a fish i just set the hook and reel'em straight in... but that is a nice cat and i hope you have that good of luck more often

do you guys keep any cats too cook? or are perch and trout the only thing you guys stick with?

we let all the cats go - my brothers keeps some to eat now and then.
perch and crappie we keep for the pan,
trout for the smoker
