Democracy Music Video

This is a music video I created for one of my songs Democracy, that I wrote and recorded in 2006. It is essentially about the idea that demoscracy is about choice, but not choice about the things that really matter: governance, for example, is an illusion of choice. Our choices in reality are limited to where we spend our money and our credit, and ultimately how we react to the thousands of advertisng images we are subjected to. Should we just shut up and consume? Should we try to gain some control over our choices and the consequences of those choices by bringing freedom back to democracy. Can we seperate business and extreme capitalist ethics from government, or are they completely self perpetuating and co dependant like two sides of the same coin?

so you can have the perfect setup
to play those games on your brand new ps3
there are just so many things we've got to make you happy
if only you had a better salary
because that's the beauty of democracy

if you're being a good citizen then you gotta chase those dreams
to surround youself with health and wealth
and always be your perfect self
and work and toil your life away
cos of all the bills you gotta pay
and sit around and wish you'd be
as happy as the coke ad said you'd be
as all the useless crap we buy
continues to make our planet die
who the hell are we to make a fuss?
why haven't you bought that flat screen TV if you wanna take part in democracy?

between the total megalomaniac and the spineless wetback
between the bigoted right wing fascist and the slightly less right wing money hungry yes man
yest it's a bipartisan system where both the parties promote the same ideals
so if you're not a conservative
when you cast your vote
confused is how you feel
it's sad to see the leaders
with the chains around their necks
even they are slaves to corporatocracy
because that's the beauty of democracy
