Human Fish ties together reflections on a Slovenian cave salamander, Plato, and human hubris.

The human fish (a.k.a. proteus anguinus) is white and blind and lives in a cave... when it comes into the light it turns black and grows eyes, when it returns to the cave it goes blind again...

I am from Croatia and the Human Fish or ''Čovječja ribica'' is one of our endemic species too. I work at the Zagreb zoo and we're about to start a project about amphibians and I thought that this poem was pretty damn amazing.

If it's possible I'd love to have a written version to maybe show the zoo visitors :)
