Just a comment about name changes. Changing the name wouldn't give them permission to record it and "make it their own" they would still have to talk to Clint Mansell's publisher to get permission to use it or get a compulsory license. Requiem for a Tower was actually arranged by someone else, who would have gotten a license from the publisher, and now they are doing a cover of a cover, so would have to get permission from the arranger's publisher

The original is called Lux Aeterna, by Clint Marshall for the movie Requiem for a dream. It was later re-orcestrated for a LOTR Two Towers trailer, and titled Requem for a Tower
