There are good singers, great singers, truly amazing singers; and then there is Steve Perry -- THE VOICE, in a class by himself. Of R&B influence, Steve's vocal classification of countertenor/tenor altino. His vocal range, with its heart-rending emotive quality, perfect pitch and superior clarity, reportedly spanned as high as 4 to 5 octaves -- his full vocal range is F#2 to A5, highest falsetto note Bb5 ... jaw-dropping.

Always in total command of every note, even while in constant motion onstage, Steve displayed exceptional stamina, possessing a unique ability to handle marathon note suspensions without becoming breathless; without always resorting to falsetto, and certainly not by screaming.

  • Queen's Brian May described Perry as "a truly luminous singer, in my opinion —

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, L-O-V-E STEVE PERRY. ♥♥♥♥♥

  • steve Perry the best!!!!

  • @hermygagala Technically, Delp is a better vocalist, sure. But the general consensus is that Mercury has one of, if not the greatest voices in the history of rock. Of course it's public opinion. People don't care about technicality, they care about voices they like. Thom Yorke of Radiohead, who is in no way a technical vocalist or a mega seller, was ranked in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers, and regularly appears high in public polls. So the "more people have heard of..." argument is lame.

  • @TheBarbon85 That is not an opinion, clearly you are not a vocalist. The general consensus is that they prefer Mercury's tone. Brad Delp has much more power in his voice which is a fact, there is no opinion in things like that. The main opinion factor of vocals is tone. And the only reason that is the general consensus is because more people have heard of Freddie than Delp. And that's because Freddie has far better promoters and producers. You need some serious enlightening.

  • @hermygagala In your opinion. The general consensus is very different: you know this, as does everyone.

  • @TheBarbon85 Mercury has barely any punch or power behind his voice in comparison.

  • @hermygagala Haha omg rotflmfaoolitfeloolotmofl. Easy done. Mercury > Delp.
