  • To be clear though... I'm pretty sure that Upper Death refers to Cottonwood Falls and Lower Death refers to Barrel Springs.

The big Hawaii Five Oh! wave before Shoshone is called something else... my memory escapes me right now.

  • no its upper death, lower death, then barrel springs, we call that wave the zambezi wave because it is kind of similar looking to the one on the zambezi

  • Kudos to you guys--

My dad was a gate tender at Shoshone at the Dam (not the plant) for 25 years and he used to talk about that alot. He always said guys would have a cute girl and a kayak with them GOING UP but nobody ever went DOWN it. Now, granted, he was closer to UPPER Death (which I'll bet even you brave guys wouldn't do) but still--very impressive. Fun Fact only a local would know: The reason it's called "Death" is because a canoe with Johnny Baugh in it wrecked and killed 2 people

  • Colorado big water at it's mank-est.

  • Well, the proper name for drop right below Shoshone Dam is Cottonwood Falls. If you look on topographic maps it's labelled. I know people refer to it as Upper Death as well. I've never heard names for the stuff in between Cottonwood and Barrel Springs, but that doesn't mean there aren't any.

  • The rapid below the dam is upper death/lower death. most dont run upper and put in in the middle of the rapid which is all one. The flat section is called life after death then its barrel springs.

  • scariest thing ive ever run

  • nice run guys... I've only run this up to about 5,000cfs.

  • i think the camera they put on the boat thing, was a waste of money

  • bad ass... huge set of attachments!

  • given how youtube makes grade 3 and even grade 4 water look crap, this video is amazing!

  • So, this is going to sound like I'm being rather an ass, but if, "it doesn't matter what you call it" then why are you insisting on calling it your name rather than the other guy's name? I mean, is it called Cottonwood falls on the usgs map or is that a local name? I'm not suggesting either of you are right or wrong.
