Penrickton School for the Blind serves children who are blind and multiply handicapped. The School provides a 5 day residential day care and consultation programs helping each child to become as independent as possible. Penrickton is a nonprofit agency receiving no state, federal or United Way monies. There is no charge to the families of the children or to their insurance companies. All of the money is raised from individuals in the community, service clubs and other various groups.

A Time to Help Volunteers installed an 8 foot privacy fence, painted playground equipment, and performed general landscaping and clean-up.

A Time To Help was established in 1997 as a means of galvanizing the people of Detroit to volunteer on a regular basis. A Time To Help has staged more than 100 monthly projects ranging from building houses, delivering meals, beautifying city streets, running adoption fairs, repairing homeless shelters, packing food, and hosting an annual Christmas party to a shelter for battered women
