Gbedu is a kind of Yoruba drum, with a booming sound. When it's used as a term for music it is because it suggests the heavy-duty acoustics that popular music is noted for, the boom-boom, or "gam-gbam, dim-dim" as the Igbo might say. The word itself does not mean music.
