In this series of videos gay activist Jim Burroway talks about attending Focus on the Family and Exodus International's "Love Won Out" conference which promotes "gay curing" or "ex-gay" ministries.

In this segment Jim talks about the language used at Love Won Out that attempts to separate gay people from their sexuality by using terms such as "struggling with homosexuality" and "people who are affected by homosexuality." Jim finds this comical since he is an out gay man and has no personal struggle with homosexuality. Jim finds this is a conscious decision by Love Won Out to separate sexuality into a individual element which can be removed or ignored in a person's live.

  • @firstjohn47and8 "I am struggling with the guilt associated with this way of thinking and the need to act out based on that guilt. In turn I become promiscuous."

I can really appreciate what you are going through. This is the problem of repression--especially when guilt is added to it. This is why we see so many of the anti-gay activists self-destructing in such spectacular ways (George Rekkers, Ted Haggard, Eddie Long, etc.). TRUE spirituality will help you integrate your sexual orientation.

  • The funny thing about Nicolosi is he thinks if he just repeats the same thing enough times it will magically become true.

"His body is desigend for a woman." Ya know what? The design works just as well for a man.

  • I have to admit I am still struggling with homosexuality...but it's not homosexuality that I have a problem with but with the religious superstitions that are imbedded in my brain and my soul. I cannot seem to separate religion from spirituality and I find myself wanting to return to some old religious thinking that contradict my spiritual maturity. I am struggling with the guilt associated with this way of thinking and the need to act out based on that guilt. In turn I become promiscuous.
