my friends and i were skating about three blocks away from this. we heard the sirens and wondered what was going on. later on that night we found out on the news that there was a riot and we were kind of suprised that it was close to us.

as you all can see there are mot more muslims or blacks in this demonstration than traditional French. I think that most of you commentators have confused this riot, which took place among students against a university reform by the government, to what happened in the suburbs 6 months before. These protesters are most typical middle-class French with a somewhat confused mind and young revolutionary spirit.
With this I hope that we can take the discussion about "arabs and niggers" elsewhere.
