Brand new Akai MPK88 Pro -- by pressing the keys the case in the middle vibrates quite loud.
Bought new by Music Store with a tecnical fault - two keys (B4 and D5) seem to have some kind of scratching inside..

  • Do you often play with the sound off? I mean... a real piano makes way more "key noise" than that does.

  • @chappytk I've played a lot of pianos and grand pianos and trust me, the wooden mechaical sound of the keys, is like part of the piano sound, it HAS TO BE there. It's incomparable with this vibrating cheap plastic noice.

You probably think, if the speakers are on, you wouldn't hear this disturbing plastic vibration? You sit right in front of it and you would have to turn the volume really high, to drown this noise out – you really think it is an option for any studio?

  • thank you for your vid. i was about to y the 88ish, but i changed my mind!! plastik from japan or sonewht......

  • no problem man, I was just so disappointed about it, so wanted to help people in their buying decision!

in the end I bought the novation impulse 61, which unfortunately has no full wheighted keys, but costs only a half of the price...

btw, its not japanese (would be great), but from taiwan or so..

  • DO NOT BUY THIS 67 POUND PIECE OF SHIT - the sound is much worse in real life and definitely does not do the keyboard any good - I sent it back the next day lol

  • In my opinion the good far outweighs the bad. Check my channel with a little info on the MPK88. The keys are a little noisy, but considering all it does, it's a steal.

  • The rattling comes from the Stop/ Play/ "Tap Tempo" buttons. If you put something soft over them as you play, that rattle disappears. I don't like it much either, though it's not something that (in my opinion) warrants returning such a nice, weighted, full-house midi controller (that I got as a gift).

  • Just to give another perspective, I bought one of these about 6 months ago and am very happy with it. I bought it online for $539 factory sealed. Mine has a little of the same vibrating sound, which is the function buttons just below the LCD display. They do tend to rattle slightly when playing the center keys with some pressure. Other than that, the build quality on mine is first rate, no other issues (although some feel the pads are not sensitive enough). Just my 2 cents.
