Make a cross at the end of the Tomato with a sharp knife.
Immerse the Tomatoes in boiling water.
When the skin separates from the flesh,take the tomatoes out. Let it cool.
Remove the skin gently using a thin sharp knife .
Cut the tomato's red outer surface. Avoid the seed and inside portion to get the desired red color.
Saute the tomato flesh in a nonstick pan .You can add the tomato juice from inside for more flavour.
When they are of a very thick consistency , turn off the heat , let it cool & blend them into a smooth thick tomato puree.

  • is it not necessary to put the tomatoes in an ice bath immediately after boiling?

  • @aarossell yes you need to cool them down ..cool bath or set aside for some seconds,both helps

  • I was trying to make a classic italian tomato sauce form scratch with just tomatoes..I guess I should've pureed them..b/c although it tasted great, but the appearance was misleading..it wasn't that classic vibrant red colour that tomato sauce should have, and I had to add corn starch just to make the sauce thicken...I guess I should've picked more the seeds and white parts of the tomato off before cooking...

  • @mrrawrlicious yes if u use the inside portion n seeds it will be less of red
