"Job Creation For Complete Idiots" by Old Fart Rants

George Bush's tax cuts for the so called "job creators" didn't do a damn thing to create jobs. Over 50,000 American factories closed which cost about 6 million people to lose their jobs -- jobs that will probably never come back. If those people were still working today the unemployment rate would be about 5 or 6%. All tax cuts for the rich have done is increase the income of the ultra rich at the expense of the working class. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, which tracks the reasons private companies layoff employees says that in the first 6 months of 2011, a little over 1000 jobs were lost due to the Republicans talking points, while almost 145,000 jobs were lost due to poor demand by customers. The National Federation of Independent Businesses also says "poor sales" is the number one reason businesses don't hire. The 500 companies on the S&P index are sitting on $800 billion in cash. The 1,600 companies Moody's tracks are sitting on $1.2 trillion in cash. That's 2 trillion dollars they're doing nothing with. Giving these companies tax cuts is NOT going to make them hire employees - they have plenty of cash to do that right now but they're not doing it. Even though their profits are the highest they've been in history, 30 of those Fortune 500 companies pay no taxes at all -- none! In fact they even get money back from the taxes they don't pay! If you pay 1 penny you pay more income tax than they do. Now how much more do you think we should cut their taxes? Over the past 3 decades the wealth of this country has been slowly re-distributed UP to the ultra rich to a point where a handful of people now own half this country's wealth. Trickledown economics is a complete joke - it should be called trickle UP economics! Maybe you're so stupid you actually think that passing laws about abortion, that have already been laws for over 30 years creates jobs. Maybe you're so stupid you think passing resolutions to affirm that "In God We Trust" is still the official motto of the United States creates jobs. Maybe you're so stupid you actually think that blocking legislation that actually would create jobs creates jobs! Maybe you're so stupid you can't even tell when somebody is lying to you right in your face! But maybe you have 1 working brain cell left that will listen to Bruce Bartlett - economist for Ronald Reagan and one of the guys who came up with trickledown economics. Here's what he says now about cutting taxes for the rich creating jobs, and I quote: "It's nonsense. It's just made up. When it comes to creating jobs Republicans have nothing to offer." End quote.

How is handing people stimulus money creating jobs? Last i saw, best buy didnt add 10 new cashiers to handle the rush of people buying chinese made tv's with their stimulus checks.

@davidyack 1) No one just "hands people stimulus money". The idea is to use the money to create jobs so they can earn it. 2) When people have money they spend it. That helps businesses sell more product which helps them hire employees. 3) If Best Buy lost a lot of their sales I guarantee you they would lay people off. 4) You really don't get the basics do you?

Old Fart I like how the GOP smashes Obama's American Jobs Act which was all paid for with cuts but they are crying about Obama not signing the oil pipeline deal which was so tactfully put into the unemployment extension bill, they are crying that it will kill 30,000 jobs if the pipeline doesn't get built. Actually it might make a few thousand temp jobs building it but the real jobs start when it fucking blows up and they have to hire us to clean up the oil spills.

I find it hilarious when repubs argue that the rich deserve all their money because they earned it. They should be able to keep the money but only if they perform ALL the work required to run a business. No employees allowed. They use the American infrastructure (roads, electricity, police and fire services etc.) but they're above paying taxes that pay for these services! STOP allowing yourself and your fellow middle class Americans to be stomped on in the false name of free-market capitalism.

@anoldcrow The facts are the the Countries with the toughest regulations are the ones that are NOT in financial trouble today, two Countries come to mind: Canada and Germany. Both have boatloads of regulations compared to the USA, but neither is in Financial trouble right now. Canada is the Banking leader of the G20 and Germany is the largest and strongest economy in Europe, they were even asked for a handout. You know those things called books, try one!

Republicans don't want to create jobs. They want the president to look bad so they can put another Republican president in the White House in 2012. After 8 years of the disasterous presidency of Dubya Bush, they want to take our country "back" back to a chaotic mess that is.
