Very sad. Rhodesia, A forward, modern state with a proud, self-sufficient, strong army succumbing to world pressure and giving up to Mugabe and his thugs. What a terrible result. So-called Zimbabwe is known as the AIDS capital of the world and ranks at the bottom of nearly every metric measuring a state's modernity and progress.

By the way, I am not Rhodesian and my first born grandson is mixed race (African father) which quite frankly is irrelevant to me. Current events in Zimbabwe are a travesty...it almost vindicates the reasons given by Ian Smith to delay majority rule there...I wonder what it would be like now if the Rhodesian government had won.

There have been comments to the effect that whites fought for something that wasn't theirs in the first place. Why then is the colonisation of Europe by non-Europeans acceptable, indeed desirable? Do they, like the Zimbabweans, have the right then to "rise up" and fight a patriotic war to rid their countries of the non-white settlers and be given international support and sympathy etc?
