  • what do you do for coffee while backpacking?

  • I pretty much just do instant. It's the lightest and easiest.

  • where do you buy your pot stand or how do you make your pot stand?

  • Made it out of hardware cloth from Home Depot.

  • Why not use the tooling foil around the hardware cloth as a wind screen and cut air holes in the bottom?

  • I tried that but it seems that if the foil is that close to the flame, it cuts off too much O2. And to counter that means too many holes to make it an effective windscreen. Sad, because that would have been my ideal design. :(

  • hi jason i just made a 13 gram cook kit with a modified version of this stove... the kit was only for fun and i will never actually use it but.... it was fun to build.

you can see the vid at /watch?v=52tgvc5xZEs

  • @jasonklass two years after your post,

HD doesn't sell just one foot of hardware cloth, Most little hardware stores like Ace, or TrueValue do--avoids the issue of what're we going to do with a big roll minus what we used for the stove?

  • great idea . i like that it is all together like that . keep up the great work .

  • Good job !

  • @thejaneo7

The tea lite stove burns alcohol

Like methanol or ethanol or denatured

These three burn hotter and better then most other alcohols hope this helps

  • thumbs up if you LOVE JB weld

  • @gibsonflyingv98 you could use superglue, but it might melt. JB weld is a better alternative. You could also use tin foil for the base, but tooling foil is a better aternative, also. Using the same materials Jason did just makes the product more durable and longer lasting.

  • if your thinking about survival at the end of days however, would you really grab all of these supplie to build a new tea light stove, or would you opt for a old paint can that within 5 minutes you can turn into a quick stove??

  • I have 2 questions:

1: Can I use superglue instead of epoxy?

2: If I'm careful can I use tin foil for the base?

Please respond as soon as you can thanks. :-)

  • what are you burning in the tea lite stove? It does not look like a candle.
