When I bought my Honda Mower a few Months ago I looked at the OHC and OHV Honda Mowers and I bought the commercial mower with the GXV160 OHV engine because I wanted it to last for a long time. From what the dealer told me the OHC engines are for domestic use, the OHV engines are for commercial use.

For walk behind mowers, Honda's OHC engines like the GCV160/190 and GSV190 are only domestic engines where as the Honda OHV engines like the GXV160 are commercial engines. The difference is the valve set up, I read that OHV's are a more simple than OHC's. But a Honda OHV Commercial engine it will last for 20+ years average use and good serviceing whereas the OHC engines will last probably 10 years. The OHC engines are good, however the OHV engines are just stronger engines and last longer.
