www.simonleachpottery.com Carrying right on from the labelling clip ,here I am dipping these bottle vases in red iron slip (- 75% red clay ,25% red iron oxide) These will be scratched through to the clay underneath with a decoration ,then bisq fired , then glazed in the whitish glaze on top ,finally glaze fired in reduction up to 1300 Centigrade in my propane gas kiln.   • Dip when leather hard. After bisque firing a clear/milky glaze over them. SL

  • Also, if you are dipping these when not yet bisque fired, when they are done bisque firing do u glaze them with a clear glaze?

    Or do you just fire them twice like that?

  • Do you dip those when they are leather dry? Or bisque fired?

  • @jdiller1947 well, it's only toxic if it makes it into your body. It will get under your fingernails, then if you don't wash under your nails, when you eat, it gets into your blood stream. The skin is designed to be impermeable from outside contaminates. It's all pretty much toxic because of concentration and fine particle size (breathing it ... ) Eat a few grams of any oxide, it will mess your up. My prof had same encounter with zinc, and became hyper sensitive-- he can taste it in the air....

  • Nive video! I use a toilet bowl brush to stir the glazes and slips, preferably a NEW one!!! I like the designs a lot.
