Finally a break in this terrible summer weather we have been having, yes it's right on dark with an absolutely beautiful sunset, as I grab my head cam and head to the local oval. Arriving the wind is still a little stronger than I would of liked, but I just had to get a flight or 4 in. The Hyper Taxi was removed from it's box, the trusty DX8 turned on and a stock 180mAh E-flite battery, fitted to the HT. Camera turned on and I was ready to head into the unknown, now I must say my first couple of attempts to lift of vertical didn't work, the wind kept pushing it backwards but on the third attempt I was airborne and flying, hey! this thing flys good, I think to myself and after a couple of laps to get the feel I started to feel at ease with the Hyper Taxi and started to play around. I got just over 5 minutes on the stock battery.
Next flight I try my Miniaviation 210mAh battery and this too worked great, I could feel the extra power it provided, but I must say the Taxi flew ok on the stock 180, just didn't feel as powerful or last as long, I got 7min20sec out of the Miniaviation.
By this time I was getting quiet comfortable with the way the Hyper Taxi flew and just how little the wind effected it, this AS3X is the real deal, and I can see it is really going to change the way we fly planes.
Ok 3rd battery into the Taxi and this time I give the E-flite 200mAh battery out of my UMX Stryker a go, again nothing wrong with this battery and as you can see from the last 5 minutes of flight on this vid it too worked good with the Hyper Taxi, i got just on 7 minutes
All the batteries took a lot of mAh when charged, this thing "Drains" them, so keep an eye on your flight times and don't ruin your batteries
The last part of the video I also was much more at ease flying the Hyper Taxi and really start to fly it well for my first outing with a plane like this. I think this plane will be a fun one to pull out of the collection and fly, yes it's a strange looker, (well to me!) but i reckon the indoor crew as well as outdoor flyers with the great AS3X this plane will get a lot of use
I'm heading to our indoors meeting soon and will give it a go inside and also get Hamish to put it through it's paces, yes he was the guy who flew the Sbach, Extra 300 3D plus the Blade 450 in my indoor videos, so keep an eye out for them
Just like to thank Mike from modelflight.com.au for again letting me have an early release to do these review videos, so go forth fly and enjoy your Hyper Taxi, oh when it arrives that is which should be real soon
