@bjornjoseph There's an episode of DS9 where Jake is on a planet with mortar shells exploding around him that pop off with all the explosive force of a firecracker. Not one of Star Trek's better moments ...
Worf and Kira smile, Nog shits himself, Garrack has a bit of a slap of his console, and ironically, Chief O'Brian has the blackest reaction ever. He just kinda sits back and looks like he's thinking "A'ight then...."
@AdisloKazdan i think it was brand awareness or marketability or some crap. no sovereigns except in voyager, no defiants except in ds9, no intrepids except voyager. they did break that a couple of times, like message in a bottle and the bellerophon, but for the most the hero ships of each series didn't switch. i think i would've loved seeing a defiant, intrepid, galaxy and sovereign all fighting together though!
Such missiles could be targeted quite easily. Ah 3D dimensional space you still have to consider certain variables. Ships have different capabilities in warp drive. Plus they still have to consider travel time and navigational hazards. Sorry in 3D space you would have natural points that would be gathering places for fleets and battles.
@toomanyaccounts so they can't build a missiles with a warp drive?? They have no other way to project military power other than fighting like WW1 naval ships? LMAO. And battle lines aren't at all feasible in 3 dimensional space considering the distances needed to cover such a line. The Cardassian Fleet might as well be the Cardassian Maginot Fleet. But how else would they be able to show a CGI space battle if they didn't ignore common sense?
Since the ships can move faster then light and the weapons are not faster then light and have limited tracking how else would you expect the ships to do battle?
Technobabble ftw!

I wonder why during the production of this episode they didnt add a Sovereign or an Intrepd class starship in the battle.
