A Thousand Steps really is not a thousand steps. There are two hundred and something steps, and it descends onto the eastern shores of Guam. This is the Pacific Ocean side that descends into the Mariana Trench. I would rate this a easy to moderate hike.

Directions to Thousand Steps from the Tamuning area:
Head down south on Marine Corps Drive and turn left on the road that passes next to the airport. Make a right on the tri-intersection. Go until you get to the colorful wall and turn left. Go until you pass the golf course. Follow the chain linked fence that circles the golf course and keep on turning right and follow the fence. Park at the end of the road, and hike down the trail that keeps following the fence. [This is how Guam people give directions, because there are no street signs. The only road that everybody knows is Marine Corp Drive!!!]
