Rudd Fired - Gillard Promoted to PM - Was it fair?

Rudd's spectacular fall from grace can be directly traced back to the ease with which he walked away from his commitment to global warming. Of course, it is not only due to that, there were, unfortunately, a raft of other backflips until the community no longer trusted a word he said and in effect, stopped listening.
There is one trait that Aussies have that I have always respected, they do not expect a person to win every battle but they do expect them to put up a good fight.
The public would have forgiven Rudd if his legislation was sabotaged by the Liberals, they may even have punished the Liberals, what they couldn't forget and wouldn't forgive was not fighting for it at all.
