@ScotsLyon show me any official version that contains those lyrics and i will hand over my entire life earnings to you. there have been countless different versions of that song, most of them (including that one) which where only proposed but never used, and it was proposed by a newspaper, not an official

They be not all gun yet... though the years wane on relentlessly, in life or death shall they not be forgotten
-
My dad alway brought us up to consider "Scots wha hae" to be the proper anthem for we of Scots blood.
-
the old alliance was a good idea but didnt work , we helped france but they never helped us
-
your dad was a hero then? Like my Dad that generation that fought in WW2 are now gone and we should remember them .
-
My Granddad was in KOSB, he served in Korea and the Congo; a British and Scotch hero.
I can't think of the Corries without remembering driving up to the Highlands for his funeral.
-
This minds me of my dad, a few years dead now.
He was in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and landed on Sword Beach in the D Day landings. This was his regimental march, the Blue Bonnets and as a bairn I was priveleged to get all the stories and inspiring moments.
As a result this song moves me deeply.

So you think the Scots national anthem included the verse " Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid Victory bring.
May he sedition hush,
And like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush.
God save the Queen!"
Well I for one can think you can shove this where the sun don't shine
As a French-Scot
Viva the old alliance vive la vieille alliance
-
not only did they keep scots folk music alive in the 60s and 70s but the jacobite spirit aswell

We in Scotland will never recognise "God save the Queen" as our national anthem. Flower of Scotland is and will always be our National Anthem. Nothing against Lizzie and her family but I would rather sing God save our country SCOTLAND, England is seperate in my view.
These boys single handedly kept Scottish folk music alive during the 60's and 70's. Nobody has taken the reigns.

Nice comment, but it was Roy Williamson who wrote Flower Of Scotland. Ronnie Browne has been doing a great job with it since Roy's been gone. God bless them both, they were the best!
