In this unique video, Lindy wired two identical Split Blade Strat Replacement pickups together as one humbucker sized pickup and installed it in the bridge position of this guitar. This demo was recorded using a V.V.T. Lindy Fralin model combo amp, rated at 38w and featuring 1-15" Eminence speaker. The mic used was a Shure SM-57, although the lavalier mic that Lindy is wearing is picking up some of the ambient sound from the room. Please let us know if you have any questions!

  • @FralinPickups I am thinking about getting the blues output for my American standard strat. It has a rosewood fingerboard, do you think they will be too dark sounding?

  • @leragequit If you want a little stronger mids this is the right pickup. You can change volume pot values to tweak high end. 250k being stock, 300k 1% brighter and 500k 3% brighter. Pots are cheep and really make a difference. Lindy

  • Lindy, what value pot are you using for the volume? And I heard you mention one pickup was wired for a lefty, I'm left-handed and the pickups look like it would work for either a lefty or a righty, given the blades as opposed to the pole-pieces.

  • @UncleRico5104 This guitar has a 250k pot. The pickup second from the bridge is in the guitar back to back with the real bridge so it has the blades in it lefty. We have four blades to make multiple configurations left or right handed. Lindy

  • nice and fat

  • @TheTangentUK Strings might stay on a guitar for months but before it goes to a gig it gets new ones. I like different kinds and gauges for different uses. My Tele has .0105 .013 .017 .028 .038 .048, my other guitars have .011 .014 .018 .028 .038 .048 except my Gibson 225 which has .012-.052 with a .024 wound G.

  • P.S thanks for taking time out to answer out questions, I also love your style of playing, you seem to incorporate it in to heavy metal and country type tones..

  • @FralinPickups you know you say wound strings are brighter, which ones do U use as you can get nickle wound, ribbon flat wound, chrome me flat wound lol I thin I have been using elixier nickle wound on my tele, which cost more , but last longer, how long U keep a set on for, I change mine every 2 weeks, as I play 5 hours daily and I find the plating comes off.

  • @FralinPickups Maple is brighter and doesn't have two different kinds of wood glued together. It is more stable and needs less truss-rod adjustment. Lindy

  • @TheTangentUK Big necks sound better to me (the wound strings are brighter and the treble strings are thicker). I have small hands so I had to shape the neck for comfort. Lindy

  • lindy do you Favor maple necks, if so will you tell us why.
