@DaShanic1 No, actually, since there is no hydrogen or carbon in the reactants, the reaction is not combining with oxygen to form oxides in the products. Good question though.

silver cannot replace the barium because silver is not higher in the activity series list than barium therefore example 1 is not possible

@200ret1 Example 1 is not a single replacement reaction. It is a double replacement reaction. The driving force is the formation of the precipitate, silver chloride. The activity series is used to predict if single replacement reactions will occur. Thanks for your comment, though.
