Here's good news for Indonesia. Sotheby's, the oldest fine art auctioneer in the world, has just oppened a new office in Jakarta. People are hoping this will stimulate the fine art market in Indonesia. Our correspondent has more.
Sotheby's will be in Jakarta's Capital Residence building.
The new Sotheby's will be tailored to providing services for Indonesian-based clients, such as valuations, collection visits, insurance appraisals, purchasing advice and collection consultancy.

Sotheby's opening in Jakarta coincides with a preview of highlights from the sale of Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Paintings at Sothebys Hong Kong.
Founded in 1744, Sothebys is the oldest and largest internationally recognized firm of fine art auctioneers. It also provides private sales and art-related financing. Sothebys operates an international network in 41 countries, including offices in emerging markets like Indonesia.
