There should be some setting to override auto switching.

If there is you should definitely enable it while someone is showing their photos, especially because we can still see everybody at the bottom.

Really destroys the slideshow with other webcams interrupting it.

This switching is really annoying. Wondering if nobody noticed it during the hangout. Usually muting the own mic while not speaking should avoid it.
