Pencil drawing demonstration by Rainey Dewey. What you see here is a glimpse of my drawing process. When working a landscape without architecture - like the one you see here - there's a certain freedom and spontaneity that can be enjoyed without the worry of achieving a "likeness." Check out my blog www.raineydewey.com or my website www.raineydeweyart.com when you get a minute for art talk and general chatter.

  • how do you draw the bushes i have no problem with the grass but the bushes are so difficult!!! do you draw each leaf seperatly or just scribble and then shade it

  • @zuluzulu1999 Yes, I scribble but usually start with one of my H pencils as a base and then will layer with some of my B pencils. it's layering process and I typically have some kind of reference paying attention to the values of the tree or bush I am drawing. Thanks for your comment!

  • @710mex Thanks very much. Pencil is becoming my favorite medium. I find myself relaxed and content with a pencil and paper.

  • @doughuntart - I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I agree with you - I enjoy pencil sometimes more than painting. I do go back and forth taking a break from to the other... watercolor, pencil and oil.

  • I really enjoyed watching your video.... what a wonderful sketch.... I think I enjoy working in pencil even more than paint
