This is a clip from WSET's 6PM news on May 1, 2000. This is the day that WSET started originating its evening newscasts from both Lynchburg and Danville.

While this concept made a lot of sense from a business standpoint, the "dual city" look itself was very awkward and unattractive. WSET no longer has a main anchor in Danville, however a reporter will generally front live reports from the Danville studio as an unofficial "third anchor" during the 6, 7 and 11pm newscasts.

  • So this open only lasted a year?

Do you have the "Night Team" open?

  • The Night Team didn't exist at that point. They didn't start using that name for their 11PM news until sometime around September 11, 2001.

  • 0:09-0:10, LOL! The NBC Chimes heard on an ABC station!

  • Someone must have alerted them about that when they first started airing those opens because the chimes only aired like that for a few days.

  • Ah, forgot to mention I was asking that on an unrelated note, haha... I was wondering if you had it. Someone posted it on an Aircheck website about 5 years back, with the creepy theme.

  • You must be lucky, then. NBC!

  • Noreen Turan, is a good reporter.
