theyve been going since 1983 and have 9 studio albums all off which have been very succesfull. Theyve done countless world tours more so than any other band and are getting on 50.

And as for being very 'pop' I dont think any one of there songs sound pop to be honest infact I think your lucky to hear Metallica on mainstream radio.

i agree with all but one of your points...

Metallica makes up approximatively 5% of all rock radio air play i do believe.

Clearchannel radio stations play Sandman and some of the other mainstays all the time. couple times a day in fact.
