An expanded version of a short I had originally done in 24 hours. I had just seen Sin City and wanted to try something in that vein. It was also heavily influenced by Park Chan-Wook, Miike Takeshi, and Michael Mann... I think.

The contest required the short to feature a theme, prop, and a line of dialogue provided by those running it.

Our theme was: form over function (I think).

Our prop was a stuffed bunny doll.

And our line of dialogue was: "It looked like a good idea from this angle."


In this version of the short, 90% of the dialogue was re-recorded as the lack of a boom-mic resulted in the production audio being indecipherable. Like an idiot, I forgot to pack the mic for the contest.

The "Black & White" footage is still the same footage that was shot within the 24 hours of the contest, but the color flashbacks were shot later outside of the contest (since the ones we shot during the contest were absolute crap).

The one guitar piece in the short was composed by Danny Hahn within the 24 hours. The other creepy music is simply David Julyan's score for MEMENTO.

The white guy at the end seems like a chi-mo. The actress wasn't believable as a human being, let alone a prostitute. The filmaker should cast actors next time, did he just find random friends?! Does the actress really have a website?
