  • I'm sorry, she's beautiful and all, but I'm not too crazy about her voice. Don't get me wrong, she is extremely talented, just not the world's most amazing singer.

  • it doesn't have to sound like a cat in the first place...personally, i prefer helen massie's voice since it sounds more...ethereal-like....veerle casteleyn's voice seems a little too thin for me, even if it does give off the kitten-effect, but she's supposed to act more mature than most of the cats, so massie's voice a bit more appropriate

  • yes, she has a beautiful voice. ok she has an accent but i think that she sings better than Helen Massey who dubs her in the video and by the way did u know that Helen Massey is an opera singer? Veerle Casteleyn plays a kitten (Jemima) in the vid and u can hear the voice from Helen Massey and that sounds strange...

  • @Imaryana1 im so agree with you. Veerle have a beautiful voice

  • @JemimaTheTinyCat Well in Veerle's defence, she's not even showcasing her full potential, because Jemima's character is designed as the ingenue, which means her voice needs to be slender and simplistic to show she's still a kitten. Her performance here is absolutely no indication of her full potential as a singer. You must be able to tell she's holding back... it's easier to notice in the DVD since the audio is better than this clip.

  • this can't be here it doesn't look like her perhaps im wrong

  • It sounds like it was a bad day for singing, no matter whose voice it actually was - a bit pitchy on the first solo and sliding into the notes in the duet section of Memory. Not to say that I could do any better!

  • At the time, from what I understand her accent was think when she sang in English but she looked the part very well (I agree she just has the wide eyes of a kitten) so he decided to just have her voice dubbed in. She was not the only one, the man who played skimble shanks had his voice dubbed in for the song to have a scottish accent and gus and asparagus are usually the same peformer and actor but he divided the role up because Sir John Mills was too old to handle the dancing.

  • @JemimasMusic as the others say, it was dubbed...and do not forget this is 10 years after the film version was filmed!

  • @TheOliviaJuice You wouldn't recognise her voice as she was dubbed in the film by Helen Massey. Her face also looks different here as the makeup doesn’t stand out as much as in the cats video. I can tell straight away it's her by her voice and face.

  • @TheOliviaJuice Why? Is there an english version of her singing this? Last I heard, she was overdubbed in the London Cast by Helen Massey.

  • Oh come on that is not her!!! If so then I cannot recognize the face or even a touch of her voice. Even with the accent and in Dutch it doesn't even sound like her.
