Jill Bolte Taylor (born 1959) is a neuroanatomist who specializes in the postmortem investigation of the human brain. She is affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine, is the national spokesperson for the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center, and is the consulting neuroanatomist for the Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute. Her own personal experience with a massive stroke, experienced in 1996 at age 37, and her subsequent eight-year recovery, has informed her work as a scientist and speaker. "My Stroke of Insight" received the top "Books for a Better Life" Book Award in the Science category from the New York City Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on February 23, 2009 in New York City.

  • @bluebanshee3 this world is not how we perceive it, so physical but what is physical? You should work on that, it is my belief that your belief will lead your existence experience to nothingness, however I have come to feel that nothingness is not a natural state, if it was a natural state this realm would not "be" true extinguishment of self may be possible only through desire and belief that you are going to die, what i am saying is you get what you wish. So in your case you go moot @death

  • @bluebanshee3 when you die your world ends, I have already built my own worlds, been doing it since I was 3 years old, after a few NDE's I remember going to those worlds I created. Probably as my mind reached zero awareness / low activity, my perception of time dialates to infinity and I created a new reality, my playground, my creatures, I saw the borders between infinity and linear expanses, I crossed the line to infinity where I met complete understanding, no more questions =)

  • I feel this way prior to a migraine, spatial distortion, sometimes without pain i experience the massive feeling, like i take up far more area then usual. Very cool! =)

  • (i have difficulty listening to this whole thing, though, because her voice sets off a few sensory issues, ouch.)

  • i like my insanity. :)

  • the left vs. right brain isn't so much pop psychology after all. it has to do with broca and wernicke's in the left temporal (and part of parietal); both right and left temporal assign meaning to what we see and hear. left assigns linear, language-oriented meaning while right is experiential, non-linear, emotional(?) that's what i'm hearing, anyway.

her interpretation of her experience is her interpretation. i'm completely agnostic :D>

  • I am identify with this!!

  • This just sounds like she was dosed with acid

  • My schizophrenic client told me she dreams while she is awake . I got it after that. Keep an open mind, this is so important.

  • i feel this every single day :(
