The video shows photos from this year's Age Demands Action campaign in Nepal. The music is a radio jingle specially written for ADA 2011 and was broadcast a number of times on Sagarmartha FM.
On Saturday, 17 September, a delegation of ADA leaders met representatives from the Ministry of Health and Population to submit a Memorandum containing 7 key representations for improved healthcare access for older people. The 7 points included a call for a minimum monthly allowance of 2,000 rupees provided to people over 80 to support medical costs and more geriatric wards in hospitals.
Additional ADA activities that will raise the profile of the campaign include a delegation to meet the President on 29 September, street drama on 26 September, a documentary of Nepal Plus TV, a march on 1 October and a recorded ADA radio jingle on Sagarmatha FM!
The Nepal Participatory Action Network are working with a delegation ahead of a meeting with the President.
Implementation of the Senior Citizens Act 2006 and a strategy for improving the effectiveness of the country's Senior Citizens Welfare Committee will be core issues for the delegation.
