Ginger & Fiona only met a day or two before this was shot, and here they are, bosom buddies, monkeying around on the carpet (with old man Carmine snoozing right beside them). They can do this for hours on end, just rollin' around, no barking, no fights. Fiona (the rounder, redder little lady) is about 6 years old, Carmine (long & sleepy) is probably around 13, but Ginger (the lovely little chocolate-colored baby-girl wearing the "Adopt Me!" bandana) is probably less than a year old, and desperately needs a loving family anywhere in the vicinity of New Haven, CT to give her a stable, permanent home!

All three of these pit bulls are rescues. All three have been abused and neglected in some form, but thankfully all three wound up in sane, compassionate hands before being killed either by their original abusers or by their local animal shelters. Ginger was tied to a tree and abandoned by some teenagers only a few weeks ago, starving, scared, and apparently not long after having been forced to have a litter (which is terrible for the pet population no matter what, but especially terrible when the mama's just a puppy herself!). After a few short weeks of proper food & water & love & attention, though, sweet-natured and playful Ginger seems ready for a forever home, and she gets along great with all people and animals... Even the neighbor's cat!

Y'see folks, this right here is what you can expect from a pit bull that hasn't been tortured to a point of irreparable insanity (and it takes a heck of a lot of abuse to drive these li'l lovers to a point of no return. Case in point, the Michael Vick pits: tortured mercilessly for who knows how long, confined in a shelter for over 6 months during legal proceedings and evaluations before starting rehabilitation, now all living peacefully and happily in loving foster homes!). This is absolutely normal, healthy, adorable pit bull behavior and temperament. Show me a "vicious pit bull," I'll show you vicious, abusive, human-driven circumstances that drove an innately loving animal to madness. But enough with the bad news... Let's find sweet Ginger a home!

  • Those are some beautiful dogs! And you are so right. There are Pitbulls like these all around that have owners that abuse and/or neglect them. I get so frustrated when I see Pitbulls being mistreated. I say to myself, "that dog deserves a REAL owner; one that knows what he or she has. People pay good money for these dogs, and then their are people that practically throw them away. These are what Pitbulls are really like. You have done a great job. They are healthy and happy, well done.

  • Only people like you should be allowed to own Pit Bulls (any dog really). I too rescued mine, and from my next door neighbors! Those punk girls stopped taking care of him when he got big--stopped walking him, petting him, and even stopped giving him food and water! I had one at the time too and I couldn't just ignore that dog's cries. So when mine passed, I knew what I had to do. He is now healthy and happy with me. I couldn't have asked for better! I hope this one has found a good home.

  • I want one!:)
