No TV detector van can 'detect' your TV. Your TV is a receiver not a transmitter!

Under the Common Law ( the Law of the land in England), If there is no Contract, you/we require no licence. My friend told Tv Licensing that as he was not watching/ Recording `Live Programmes` he did not require a Tv Licence. However, he told them that he had tuned his tv to the Tv Channels & that if he decided to watch /record `Live` Tv , he would buy a Licence. He doesn`t let them enter ; says he is not yet interested in a Licence. Without evidence of guilt, no case to answer . Bahhh

LCDs ain't the same as old CRTs, so their ability to detect an LCD TV (rather than an LCD monitor, on a laptop or separate) would be impossible based on the tech that that would affordably have access to. The security services might have access to equipment that could differentiate, but I don't think that MI5 has been drafted in to TV licensing yet.

There is no way to check your watching a TV even if you were to do this. Heat also wouldn't work since computer monitors would also give out the same footprint. Anyway, if you're not watching live TV it doesn't matter and they should bugger off. Finally licenses should be illegal.

@vallonia200 perhaps they simply have heat detecting cameras, see a square box and know that you watch a tv if its in yellow or red color :) anything else in these colors might be you and your missis... :)

I wouldn't call them as it's not important. Even if you so called trap them in claims, and falsehoods.

If you own an old TV that isn't in a faraday-cage then make one in side the box.

Hang on, How can TVLA prosecute anyone using these so called detector vans/handheld devices?while they refuse to tell anyone how they work? its a bit like me saying "hey I was miles away when I saw the offence but I know he did it" I cant tell you how I know but he did commit the offence. Would that stand in court? would it fuck!
