  • Thanks for clearing upu the myths. You are a strong lady and a role model.

  • @niikole The treatment of chronic pain patients is pretty universal regardless of the race of the doctor or nurse. A true sickle cell crisis is subjective, there is no real way to objectively see one except for the patient telling you they have pain. Cancer on he other hand is something you can see and touch. I can see a tumor or I can see a cancerous blood cell on a microscope slide. The jump to the illogical accusation of reacism shows a weak intellect

  • Dilaudid is highly addictive. It in fact is the drug of choice for many chronic "painers". In the ER we have access to a database maintained by the DEA. We can see every prescription you have received for the past 5 years. When you have multiple narcotic prescriptions filled by different doc's at different pharmacy's it points to an addict. Not in the posters case of course. Im talking about people with chronic pain in general.

  • @igcgnerd do you have ss? cause I do and I'll tell you right now if im not hurting i dont take pain meds. therefore Im not "addicted" and most ss patient are not either you may get a few like she said who ,but i have been takin meds from my 1st crisis at 2 and im 24 now and Dr. and nurses try n say the same ish you are n its not true doctors dont go around sayin that to cancer or ms or w/e other chronic illnesses out there are but because its mostly blacks they see we have to be "DRUGGIES"?!

  • well i'm going to address all Questions. concerning sickle cell and the addictions of the pain medications that we take. trust me i've been fighting this illness for 40 yr. and i've had all pain meds u can name. now the best one on the market now is diluid because it cures the pain quickly and it's not that addictive. we sicklers can and will get addicted easly because of our tolarence for the pain meds most times it's mental if u focus on the area of ur pain u can control the pain ur havin

  • thanks for breaking it down...many people don't understand our pain

  • I can tell you coming from a medical background and an emergency medicine background that a person can become addicted to pain medication no mater how many years they have been using it. If they have been using it chronically for years they are addicted, that isn't to say that they don;t have legitimate pain which I'm sure some do but there is no avoiding the face that they are dependent on it AKA and addict.

  • Thank you u speak the truth unfortunately i have had the same experiencesone doctor stated all sickle cell patients were drug addicts and refused to treat me ignorant assholes don't understand but karma and time will show them i am 28 too and all my life i have been put on some of the strongest meds they have and ur right i never asked to have meds just to get high shit i would rather smoke weed than take pain meds and that's the truth LBK Life's Begotten King joe clark

  • you are extremely informed about sickle cell as well as intelligent and articulate contact me im a friend with the same condition long beach california
