this is a different version than what was released in the states. i like the other one better...it was cleaner and you could hear the lead better.

Great, edgier version of the Ace classic. If you think back to the ealier 80's, "edgy" was in. Think Clash. And stop taking the stance that Rod is trying in some way to "outdo" the original artist or band; Rod shows his appreciation by redoing the songs. Grow the hell up, for God's sake.
