Futral is fascinating here. She is the complete operatic performer...singer, actress, story teller. She probably doesn't do Juliet anymore, but she is still a leading Violetta, as a clip from Oct. '09 shows.

she used to sing in Baltimore from time to time, before the opera closed up shop there. Got to hear her sing I Puritani and The Siege of Corinth. What a great voice, understated but pointed acting, and a lovely character that is felt from the stage!

The soprano who exemplified this was Bidu Sayoa as were the sopranos of the Golden Period. This voice here is throaty and unwieldy as seen in the lack of phrasing.
