Iran`s new generation of middle-range surface-to-air Missiles

Iran has started producing a new generation of middle-range surface-to-air Missiles known as Shahin.
Defense minister Mostafa Najjar was speaking after a ceremony held to launch the production line of the new Missile. The general said Shahin can play a key role in surgical and regional defense. The new Missile has a range of more than 40 kilometers. Last month, Iran successfully test-fired an advanced surface-to-surface Missile known as Sejjil-two, with a range of over two-thousand kilometers.

i do not hate any country although i am a Muslim. But i completely support Iran and its works as i believe its Iran's right to defense itself. Also i support Iran as we need a Islamic Leader to organize and unite the Muslim worlds. Only Iran can do it, rest of the Arabs r just busy to enjoy the oil money!!!

@Antizionist4life (Con't) cruise missiles, medium range ballistic missiles, and non maneuvering aircraft like tankers, and AWACS. My guess is that Iran is looking for a system like the S-300 or a variant they can produce themselves is to have a long range SAM capable of intercepting maneuvering targets like jet fighters besides the types of targets mentioned before. But at least for now, Iran seems to have formidable coverage to destroy air targets at short to medium range (1 to 50 kms.).

@Antizionist4life (Con't), and the Mesbah 1 which is a radar and optic electronic guided rapid reaction auto gun that can fire at a rate of 4000 rounds per minute. The Mersad is a new system designed around the Shahin which is a vastly upgraded iHawk missile. It has a range of 40 kms. with supersonic flight capability, and a number of counter ECM systems. @Antizionist4life Well that is a lot of information you posted here. While I am no expert, I believe Iran has built their current air defense infrastructure mainly around "point defense" systems which don't deny air space penetration to an advanced air force, but optimized to counter the precision strike weapons released by those aircraft, i.e. laser guided bombs, JDAMS, HARMS, cruise missiles, etc. They have created two new systems to work in concert to each other, the Mersad, and the (Con't)
