Reading some of the forum threads on removing the Lotus Elise/Exige oil pan to install the Moroso baffled oil pan, I was not sure if it would take 5 minutes or 5 hours- lots of mixed experiences and results. After removing all of the nuts/bolts holding the oil pan on using a 10mm socket wrench/extension, I used the Lisle gasket separator (P/N LIS 50190) in one corner of the oil pan to start the oil pan separation. It was not strong enough to do anything other than provide a small gap on the corner with the pressure tab. But that gap was enough room to insert a brake spoon (Performance Tool P/N W80630) with a little help from the hammer which could then be used to pry the pan off after breaking the sealer bond. Try and keep the brake spoon on the motor tab when prying to minimize marring the engine surface (unlike me as seen in the video) and once it starts to break free use your hands to finish the job. It left very little residue to clean off but what was left was easily cleaned off with a razor blade- for more pics and my Moroso oil pan installation writeup visit www.billswebspace.com/lotus2011.html . Thanks to LotusTalk's MTribe for his pics and ideas that made this a little easier for me.
Thanks for posting! Nice write-up and pics on your web page also!
